Here you can find the details of what we bill for, and how. We are proud to run an honest business, thus, we try to make sure that our billing practices are more customer-friendly than the industry’s best.

Aether Pro is a per-seat subscription

We currently offer our software at a per-month fee for each member of your team. (Our annual billing is on the way).

Trying it out

We do have a 14-day trial, and we would recommend signing up and giving it a shot. We want to make sure that you are happy, so we also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee even if you’re past the 14-day trial.

Another way to try Aether is to try the Aether P2P version. Aether P2P version is an open-source app that is also created by the people who make Aether Pro. This app shares quite a lot with the Aether Pro, however, it is a peer-to-peer network for public content. Aether P2P was the first that we had made, and the businesses reaching out to us for a private version of it was the initial impetus behind Aether Pro. You can demo Aether P2P here.

Aether P2P handles thousands of users in a global realm, and it has been doing it for more than a year. If your team is smaller than this, you will likely have no problems with Aether Pro.


We do need a credit card for starting the trial. The reason for that is that Aether Pro uses a fully isolated architecture. Every team gets allocated a separate instance and the corresponding separate database. This allows us to offer higher than usual security and on-premises deployments. However, this also makes our costs slightly higher compared to a more standard, low-security SaaS app.

On-premises installations

We also offer on-premises installations. We can tailor these installations to your needs. You can find more info about our on-premises options here: On-premises installations.

The billing for on-premises installations depend on whether you want the installation to be air-gapped. If the installation is not air-gapped, it will cost the same as our hosted offering.

If your installation is air-gapped, this means the installation will not be able to contact our billing service. In this case, we charge on a ‘up-to number of seats’ basis. For example, You would be able to purchase a subscription for up to 250 seats, and that would mean that your service will accommodate up to 250 members.

This allows us to offer a true zero-knowledge installation that is completely detached from any external calls. This is useful for high-security installs, or installs in corporate intranets where the data and discussions are extremely sensitive.

On-premises servicing

If you’d like support in servicing an on-premises installation, we offer expertise and if you prefer such. maintenance contracts to make sure everything remains ship-shape.

Proration and credits

Adding members

When you add new members, these new seats will be added to your subscription. You will see a one-time, prorated charge that covers the new member until the end of the current subscription period. From the new period on, you will be charged the new amount.

Removing members

Likewise, in the case you remove a new member, you will receive a pro-rated discount for the unused days in your current period, in your next billing cycle. Thereafter, you will be charged at the updated rate.

Cancelling your subscription

If you’d like to cancel your subscription, please send an email to and we’ll promptly cancel it, no questions asked.
