Chat
A chat room is a space for high bandwidth interactions, where you are often expected to fully engage in a conversation as in a phone or video call. It is an excellent place to quickly hash out ideas with each other, but also demanding of your attention.
Every Aether sub has a single chat room, which enables interactions like in a Slack or Discord channel.
When a user is mentioned, they will receive a notification in their in-app notification panel, which collects all notifications across universes that the user is a member of.
One issue with Slack and Discord chat is that conversations get lost over time, and there is no space to archive permanent records. Even when you manage to search for a particular chat message, the context is often lost. This is why Aether has a threads space, for context-rich posts and structured discussions that may also make reference to specific chat messages.
